Curated 'Tracing Absence' opening at Kistefos Museum in April 2023!

I've curated 'Tracing Absence', an exhibition opening at Kistefos Museum the 29th of April, until October 2023, and I'm very much looking forward to being there!

This is the result of a collaborative curatorial effort with my MA colleagues (MA Curating Art and Public Programmes) and, after being exhibited in London at the Whitechapel Gallery , Tracing Absence will now tour to Norway, at the beautiful Kistefos Museum.

We had the chance to select a wide range of artworks from the Christen Sveaas Art Foundation, including photography as well as sculptures, mixed media and paintings; and to further reflect on the main themes of Tracing Absence.

Selected from the Christen Sveaas’ Art Foundation, with a primary focus on photographic works, Tracing Absence invites the viewer to experience absence as a process, one which encourages us to confront our discomforts and find reflection in emptiness. Absence is everywhere, existing beyond a vacant space or blank canvas; it can be found in crowded rooms, relationships, people, in nature and society.

The exhibition features works from Per Inge Bjørlo, Sophie Calle, Nan Goldin, Andreas Gursky, Ilkka Halso, Rune Johansen, Ola Kolehmainen, Mikkel McAlinden, Zanele Muholi, Joseph Sergi, Aase Texmon Rygh, Wolfgang Tillmans, James White, Richard Wright, Francesca Woodman, Yiskāh (alias Jessica Beechey).

Tracing Absence is curated by a group of student curators from the MA Curating Art and Public Spaces program at Whitechapel Gallery in association with London South Bank University.

I'm very much looking forward to being in Norway next weekend, really excited and I must say, a bit nervous. I can't wait to visit Kistefos, the incredible sculpture park, the old mill and being completely immersed in luxurious Norwegian nature.

Wish me luck! And, if you won't be able to visit the exhibition, stay tuned, I'll share images and news very soon on my channels!
